Happy spring, everyone, or fall, depending on where you are in the world. At just above 30 degrees today, it sure doesn’t feel like spring here in western NY, but we know it’ll reach us eventually… at least, I hope so!
A few announcements today, but first…:
A Quick Personal Note
For those wondering, Chris is doing so much better. He’s feeling great and back to his happy self, and I can’t tell you how thankful and relieved we are! To those who sent good thoughts/prayers/vibes our way, and to everyone who took the time to send us little messages, we’re so very grateful. Your words of kindness and support when we desperately needed them meant the world. You helped get us through a really hard time, so thank you. I’m so pleased to share that things are going really well now, and the medical crisis is behind us. We’re looking forward to a much healthier, happier spring.
Our First Major Tutorial Project on the Victor Stream 2 is Now Free to Download
The first full assistive technology project Chris and I created together was our audio documentation on the Victor Stream 2. Many of you supported that project when we made it available for purchase way back in May 2015. Here we are 11 years later, and we’re now making this special tutorial free for everyone. Please remember, to get our free offerings you’ll visit: MysticAccessDownloads.com, where you can browse goodies by category. Activate this link to learn more and download the MP3 version of the Stream 2 documentation. A DAISY version of the product is also available for download on the site. When you find something of interest, visit the page to read a description of the audio, then find the Download link to start the download process.
While we’re talking about free downloads, I want to mention our demo of the Spoken RX prescription reader from CVS Pharmacy. It’s a free machine that verbally reads all the prescription information located on the bottle. We thought this was a really important gadget to share with anyone who needs quick and easy access to prescription instructions and other details. While the product is free, you must communicate your need for a reader first at CVS and make sure your pharmacist labels your medications. Activate this link to download our demo.
Product Reminders
At the moment we’re working on some top-secret projects that, for obvious reasons, we can’t yet talk about, but rest assured that it’s getting pretty busy in Mystic access Land once again. When we can announce what we’re currently doing, I promise we will! In the meantime, though, we wanted to remind you of a few products that are already available and well worth visiting. This first one is valuable to anyone, no matter how into technology you are, or are not. there are people out there, whether you’re online or off, who would love an opportunity to take your hard-earned money. This is why we created our comprehensive audio documentation, Staying Safe from Scams. We discuss scams that occur via email, snail mail, the internet, through phone calls, and more. There’s also a detailed resource list where you can get even more information. This audio can help not only you, but also teach warning signs to provide your elderly loved ones, friends who are vulnerable due to loneliness, and even those with whom you’re in casual conversation. This is a name your price product.
Our product from last summer, Audible Adventures, is a personal favorite of mine because it was so much fun to create. As the title suggests, it’s a detailed tour of the Audible website for screen reader users, a walk-through of features, and a crash course on getting the most from your membership. We tour the site using a PC, iOS device, Android device, and Victor Stream 3. We also go over how to use your Amazon Echo devices to find and play Audible titles.
Finally, speaking of the Amazon Echo, have you checked out our latest version of this audio documentation? We released it in 2024 in collaboration with Blind Savvy, and it focuses on voice commands you can give your Echo to get help with all kinds of tasks. Listen to music, news and podcasts, read audio and Kindle books, play games, get inspired, check stocks, explore recipes, and much more. For those who don’t enjoy using the app, or who just prefer talking to your device instead of controlling it with your phone or tablet, we think you’ll love this documentation. Visit this page to learn more and purchase. Note that if you already bought a previous version of our Echo tutorial in the past you don’t have to buy it again. Access this version via the Downloads page in your Mystic Access customer account. Also, this does not include info on Alexa+. We hope to modify it to include more on that very soon.
