You’ve Got YouTube
YouTube Isn’t Just for Watching—It’s for Discovering.
When you hear the word YouTube, do you immediately think, “Well, that’s for sighted people.”
We used to hear that a lot.
The truth is, YouTube has become one of our favorite places to learn, laugh, relax, and satisfy our curiosity. We’re Chris and Kim Nova—a totally blind couple—and in fact, we watch far more YouTube than traditional television. We even happily subscribe to YouTube Premium because we use it so much.
Whether we’re watching cozy lifestyle videos, movie and TV retrospectives, biographies, gardening channels, technology demonstrations, scam awareness content, cooking, travel, or just something entertaining at the end of a long day, YouTube has become a go-to source.
And we’d love to show you why it might become one of yours, too.
Welcome to **You’ve Got YouTube!
This two-session audio course is designed specifically for blind and low vision users who have wondered what all the fuss is about—or who already use YouTube a little and want to get so much more out of it.
You’ll gain practical skills, plenty of ideas for content to enjoy, and hopefully a growing list of channels you’ll be excited to explore.
Session One: Getting Comfortable with YouTube
We’ll start at the beginning and take the mystery out of YouTube.
Together we’ll explore:
* What YouTube actually is—and why it’s about so much more than viral videos.
* How to tell whether a video is likely to be enjoyable even if you can’t see everything happening on screen.
* Tips for using good judgment when choosing content, especially in today’s world of AI-generated videos and user-created uploads.
* Navigating YouTube on Windows, iPhone, Android, Fire OS, BlindShell, and Roku.
* Creating an account (or deciding whether you even need one).
* The differences between free YouTube and YouTube Premium.
* Helpful features like playback speed, captions, and other settings that can make YouTube even more enjoyable.
Session Two: The Really Fun Part
Now that you know your way around, it’s time to discover all the amazing content waiting for you.
We begin with a tour of YouTube on the Fire and Apple TV products before showing you how to:
* Find creators you’ll actually want to follow.
* Search for almost anything imaginable.
* Browse by topic and discover related videos.
* Subscribe to channels and keep up with new uploads.
* Use History, Notifications, and Subscriptions without feeling overwhelmed.
* Learn about playlists.
* Browse YouTube using cleaner, less cluttered interfaces.
* Find some of the best blindness-specific creators and resources available.
We’ll also talk about why videos sometimes disappear and a few ways you can avoid missing something you wanted to watch.
What This Course Doesn’t Cover
To keep our focus where it belongs, we don’t teach how to:
* Create a YouTube channel
* Create or upload videos
* Download or convert YouTube content
This audio documentation is all about helping you become a confident YouTube viewer.
This course was created from a two-session live event taught in August 2026. You’ll receive over four and a half hours of professionally edited content.
Your Investment
Just $39 for well over four hours of audio instruction, demos and suggestions, plus a written resource list you can refer to whenever needed.
If you’ve ever thought, “There can’t possibly be anything on YouTube for me,” we hope you’ll let us change your mind.
We’re excited to introduce you to a resource that’s brought us countless hours of learning, laughter, relaxation, and inspiration—and we think it just might do the same for you.
We’d love to teach you. And if you know someone else who could benefit from this audio documentation, we’d be grateful if you’d share this page with them.
Thanks for your interest.
