Introducing Our Latest Virtual Event, You’ve Got YouTube, on Sale for a Limited Time!

Hi, Everyone,

We hope you’re all doing well. We know it’s been a long time since you’ve gotten a newsletter from us. There are always things in the offing here in Mystic Access land, some of which we can’t always talk about quickly. Nevertheless, we hope you’re excited to hear from us in spite of our silences. We have what we hope will be a fun and informative event coming up next month, and those of you on this list are hearing about it first.

Introducing: You’ve Got YouTube!

When you hear the word YouTube, do you immediately think, “Well, that’s for sighted people.” Actually, YouTube has become one of our favorite places to learn, laugh, relax, and satisfy our curiosity, and we’re both totally blind, as many of you know. It’s become a go-to source for us. And we’d love to show you why it might become one of yours, too.

This two-session live event is designed specifically for blind and low vision users who have wondered what all the fuss is about—or who already use YouTube a little and want to get so much more out of it.
You’ll leave with practical skills, plenty of ideas for content to enjoy, and hopefully a growing list of channels you’ll be excited to explore.

Session One: Getting Comfortable with YouTube

We’ll start at the beginning and take the mystery out of YouTube.
Together we’ll explore:
* What YouTube actually is—and why it’s about so much more than viral videos.
* How to tell whether a video is likely to be enjoyable even if you can’t see everything happening on screen.
* Tips for using good judgment when choosing content, especially in today’s world of AI-generated videos and user-created uploads.
* Navigating YouTube on Windows, iPhone, Android, BlindShell, and Smart TVs.
* Creating an account (or deciding whether you even need one).
* The difference between free YouTube and YouTube Premium.
* Helpful features like playback speed, captions, and other settings that can make YouTube even more enjoyable.

Session Two: The Really Fun Part

Now that you know your way around, it’s time to discover all the amazing content waiting for you.
We’ll show you how to:
* Find creators you’ll actually want to follow.
* Search for almost anything imaginable.
* Browse by topic and discover related videos.
* Subscribe to channels and keep up with new uploads.
* Use History, Notifications, and Subscriptions without feeling overwhelmed.
* Browse YouTube using cleaner, less cluttered interfaces.
* Find some of the best blindness-specific creators and resources available.
We’ll also talk about why videos sometimes disappear and a few ways you can avoid missing something you wanted to watch.
And because some of the best discoveries come from other people, we’ll finish with a community discussion where everyone can share favorite YouTube channels and hidden gems. (We’ll skip political and religious recommendations so we can keep the conversation welcoming for everyone.)
Join us by signing up on this page.

As always, there will be plenty of time for questions, comments, tips, and conversation throughout both sessions.

What This Event Won’t Cover

To keep our focus where it belongs, we won’t be teaching how to:
* Create a YouTube channel
* Create or upload videos
* Download or convert YouTube content
This event is all about helping you become a confident YouTube viewer.

Event Details

**When: Tuesdays, August 18 and August 25
**Time: 8:00 PM Eastern
**Length: About 75 minutes each evening, plus plenty of time for questions.

Can’t join us live? We’ve got you covered. Both sessions will be recorded, and you’ll receive downloadable audio so you can listen whenever it’s convenient. If you know you’ll miss a session, you’re welcome to send us your questions ahead of time, and we’ll do our best to answer them during the event.

Your Investment and a Special Sale

**This event would regularly be $30 for both sessions, but we’re running a fifteen percent off sale on most items on the site through the end of July, so you’ll save some cash right now. All sale prices are applied automatically, so if there’s something else you’ve been considering, it’s easy to get a discount.
Visit this page to sign up for You’ve Got YouTube while the sale is on.

If you’ve ever thought, “There can’t possibly be anything on YouTube for me,” we hope you’ll let us change your mind.
We’re excited to introduce you to a resource that’s brought us countless hours of learning, laughter, relaxation, and inspiration—and we think it just might do the same for you.
We’d love to have you join us. And if you know someone else who could benefit from this event, we’d be grateful if you’d forward this newsletter with them, or share a link to the event page.

We’re so looking forward to another event. Maybe by August those of you who have been traveling to conventions will be ready for one, too. Hahaha.
